Theme: One Mother, All Mothers Count: Save Mothers of Africa
Confirmed Keynote Speaker: H.E. Jakaya M. Kikwete, former President of the United Republic of Tanzania
Years of widespread internal conflict and no central government has left Somalia in extreme poverty and with an inadequate health system to provide basic healthcare services to meet needs of women, children, and youth. In the world, Somalia has the worst health indicators in maternal, newborn and child health. One out of every 12 women dies due to pregnancy related causes calling for an immediate response from more partners to save lives of mothers from preventable/manageable causes of death. Focusing on the health and well-being of the mother as the anchor for her family, community, and rebuilding Somalia, CSI with local and international partner organizations will contribute in addressing gaps in quality of care for pregnant women using low-cost low-tech and proven methods to save lives. Cafimaadka Hooyada iyo Dhalaanka–Maternal and Child Health is CSI's mission in Somalia.
