CSI B³P Wishlist for Breastfeeding Mothers and Babies
Through monthly virtual sessions facilitated by a lactation consultant, support and work with English and non-English speaking pregnant women, preferably in the 3rd trimester and early postpartum, to ensure early initiation of breastfeeding at the hospital and continued exclusive breastfeeding up to six months. This includes individual and group-based informative sessions.
Increase access to a breastfeeding hotline for support from lactation consultants using the HelpMe Feed app. Breastfeeding mothers will need to be enrolled/referred by their providers or CSI IBCLCs.
Establish a text-based communication platform to send mothers and families breastfeeding information, messages, and reminders to support breastfeeding mothers and babies for at least six months and for the duration mother intends to continue breastfeeding her child up to when the child is two years old.
Set up “the importance and benefits of breastfeeding” education sessions for fathers, partners, and grandmothers in order to create a strong supportive circle for newborn mom to breastfeed.
Refer mother and baby to appropriate services within the community when mother identifies barriers that might interfere with her willingness and desire to breastfeed her baby.
