Save Mothers of Africa
Every single day, at least 500 women and adolescent girls (12 to 19 years) across sub-Saharan Africa die in pregnancy, childbirth, or within 42 days after giving birth. A combination of direct and indirect causes such as postpartum hemorrhage and delay in taking action respectively contribute to high preventable maternal mortality and morbidity. As a grassroots nonprofit reaching the unreached with health services and information, Childbirth Survival International with local and international partners are working together to save lives and reduce burden of disability and death by addressing the biological and social determinants affecting maternal health.
#SaveMothersofAfrica cuts across all of CSI's top five priorities and the three directly linked programs to achieve and contribute to the goal to save lives of mothers are: Reproductive Health & Family Planning, Saving Lives at Birth, and Women's Economic Empowerment.
