Over 15 years of widespread internal conflict and no central government has left Somalia in extreme poverty and with an inadequate health system to provide basic healthcare services to meet needs of women, children, and youth. In the world, Somalia has the worst health indicators in maternal, newborn and child health. One out of every 12 women dies due to pregnancy related causes calling for an immediate response from more partners to save lives of mothers from preventable/manageable causes of death. Focusing on the health and well-being of the mother as the anchor for her family, community, and rebuilding Somalia, CSI in collaboration with the Federal Republic of Somali, local and international partner organizations will contribute in addressing gaps in quality of care for pregnant women using low-cost low-tech and proven methods to save lives in Gobolka Banadir, GalMudug State of Somalia, and across the country. Cafimaadka Hooyada iyo Dhalaanka–Maternal and Child Health is CSI's core mission in Somalia by focusing on (1) children's education and adult literacy, (2) women's and youth economic empowerment, (3) human rights and social justice, (4) livelihood and security, and (5) food security and quality nutrition.
Xafladii Soo Dhoweynta Hay'ada CSI Galmudug Somalia: In Galmudug State of Somalia, CSI is working with the Goverment of Somalia, public and private sectors to address gaps in maternal, newborn, and child health across the State.
